ISHTA Workshop
Fridays: July 16th, 23rd, 30th & Aug 6th
8:00am - 9:00am
Fee: $50 - Introductory rate for all 4 classes
In this workshop, students will learn asana, pranayama and meditation techniques as taught by Yogiraj Alan Finger. Senior ISHTA teacher Donna Coogan has been studying under Alan for 15 years and brings these teachings to Long Island.
ISHTA - Stands for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda.
ISHTA has a double meaning that stretches back to the very roots of yoga. ISHTA is also a Sanskrit word translating to "that which resonates with the individual spirit," emphasizing the personal journey that encourages and guides students to embrace.
Hatha - Postures - build strength, balance, and flexibility - based on individual needs.
Tantra - Philosophy - That there is joy that exists at the core of your being.
Ayurveda - Science of Life - Way the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether) are blended together in each individaul that effects the physical, emotional, and mental states.
Combination of alignment of the body, coordination of breath and movement, holding the postures, or the flow from one posture to another.
Each class contains:
- Postures - Strengthen, condition, and tone the body,
- Breathing Techniques - Quiet anxiety.
- Meditation Techniques - Enhance ability to focus.
- Deep relaxation - Chance to rest and rejuvenate.
BIO - Donna Coogan: 500-hour RYT through Yoga Alliance, Senior ISHTA teacher since 1999, studying under Yogiraj Alan Finger. My style is subtly challenging and well-balanced, addressing student's individual needs through postures, breathing techniques and meditation. Certified reflexologist since 1995 through American Reflexology Certification Board using the principles of reflexology in teachings to bring the body into a state of balance.

Yogi Ananda Satyam holds degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies and was a student of Gurani Anjali, the founder of Yoga Anand Ashram. He was the Spiritual Director of the Ashram. Satyam has been practicing yoga for over 31 years, and has been teaching yoga, pranyama and meditation for over 20 years. He teaches and lectures on world spiritual traditions, and Eastern philosophies.
